The foundation stone was laid in April 2019, and after only one year of construction, the new building was occupied in mid-April 2020 as planned. The new production halls cover an area of more than 7,000 m² - i.e. 1.5 football pitches - and are located a 15 minutes' walk from the previous site in Markendorf. The production is highly automated and equipped with the latest technology according to Industry 4.0.
A benefit for the entire region
When awarding the contract for the new building, YAMAICHI ELECTRONICS attached great importance to the involvement of regional partners and companies. The cooperation with the local craftsmen and service companies ran smoothly and extremely satisfactorily for all parties involved. The City of Frankfurt (Oder) Economic Development Department also made a valuable contribution and provided YAMAICHI ELECTRONICS with advice and support. Claus Junghanns, Mayor and Economic Affairs Officer, explains: "The cooperation between the city administration and companies worked out well and proves the efficiency of the city's economic development department. I am particularly pleased with the performance of local companies on this major construction site. With the new Yamaichi site, a plant has been created of which many in our region can be rightly proud".
Major order ensures immediate capacity utilization
Just in time for the move to the new location, YAMAICHI ELECTRONICS is pleased to announce that it has signed a framework agreement with a global market leader in the medical technology sector. The complete production will take place in Frankfurt (Oder). Hardly moved in, an expansion of the production capacities must already be considered now - sufficient space would be available.
Stability even in difficult times
Helge Puhlmann, European President of YAMAICHI ELECTRONICS, emphasizes the importance of the Frankfurt (Oder) location for the group: "A major advantage over our competitors in the market was and is our production location in Germany. Thanks to local production, we can count on a secure supply chain even in these tense times".
Conclusion: A successful first-time occupancy
Helge Puhlmann is visibly pleased with the move, which was completed on time: "The decision to build the new factory building was already made in 2018 and of course there were a few hurdles to overcome in the long phase of planning and implementation. However, despite the current situation, we feel confirmed in our decision. Our customers are also attaching increasing importance to products 'Made in Germany'.
René Wilke, Lord Mayor of the City of Frankfurt (Oder): "This large and successful project once again proves that Frankfurt (Oder) is a good and attractive location. We are proud and happy to have such a renowned, globally active company in our city".
